Quilts from the drought-ravaged Central West

Jean Death1 Jean Death2 Kay Wilkinson

The first two quilts are from Jean at Blackall.  Queensland is 80 percent drought-declared, and nowhere is feeling this more than in the Central West which includes towns such as Blackall, Barcaldine, Ilfracombe and Longreach, to name some of these.  Recently, the Queensland Premier urged tourists to visit the region and spend money in these communities.  Jean’s first quilt is being quilted with the petal power e2e machine quilting pattern and the boy’s quilt is being quilted with the plush e2e pattern.  The third quilt comes from Kay of Athol near Toowoomba, and this is being quilted with the flower puff e2e machine quilting pattern.

Crossroads to Bali kit comes home for quilting

This is a Crossroads to Bali quilt bought as a kit by Margaret of Towoomba from the KoolKat Quilting stand at last year’s Toowoomba Quilters Inc. annual exhibition in Toowoomba.  It is being quilted with the fern gully e2e machine quilting pattern in a charcoal thread. The kit is sold out, but the pattern designed by Kathy Adams is available from http://www.koolkatquilting.com/, or it can be downloaded as a pdf from www.koolkatquilting.com.au

It has been quilted with the plush e2e pattern in a lilac thread to match the lilac batik fabric used in this quilt.
